PEM leverages core ideas from modern communication networks, in which data is divided into small packets and then transmitted through networks with randomization. We also use ideas from control and system theory, machine learning and optimization to enable electricity demand to balance, in real time, with renewable supply, one packet at a time.  


Our solutions create flexibility from distributed energy resources by dividing energy into small chunks (packetization) and spreading these chunks in time (randomization), enabling demand to follow supply, making energy more affordable and providing non-wires alternatives to expensive infrastructure investments.
